Question:
I would like to know if i can do yoga at the time of my period. If yes, then what are the list of things which I need to keep in mind.

Answer:
Yes you can do yoga class but avoid all inverted postures like shoulder stand, headstand, plough posture and any twisting postures like half spinal twist. Inverted postures may put pressure on the Fallopian tubes which may cause excess blood flow during menstruation.

Technique to help relieve menstrual cramps and mood swings:

1) Sit in a chair with your feet flat and place your palms on the knees. Take deep, slow and gentle breathes by
inhaling for the count of 5 and hold breathe for a second and exhale for the count of 5 and hold the breath outside for a second.
Do this 10-15 times

2) Simple Meditation technique: sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your hands on your knees with palms facing down.
Close your eyes gently.
Take 2 minutes to relax your whole body from top to toes. Bring your awareness to your nostrils.

As you inhale, think if the word smile and as you exhale think of the word smile.
Do this for 5-10 minutes.
