This healthy chocolate spread is the perfect choice for your kids breakfast, replacing successfully the popular sugar-and-refined-oils-packed spreads from the supermarket rich taste from the walnuts, chocolate flavor from the cacao, creaminess from the coconut oil and sugar-free, as only dry dates are added, to enhance the hazelnut flavor. You can store them in small airtight jars and offer to your friends kids as a healthy and tasty treat.

Ingredients

3 cups raw hazelnuts
1 cup soaked pitted dry dates
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp raw cacao powder
1/2 cup vegan milk of choice

Method

Preheat the oven to 140C/284F, place the nuts on a baking sheet and roast them for 10 minutes. Remove them from the oven, and transfer onto an old kitchen towel, and rub the nuts to remove their thin skins (the process is quite messy).

Add the nuts in the food processor, and blend at medium speed for 5 minutes, with pause at every minute, so not to overburden the machine. Add the soaked dates, vegan milk and coconut oil, and process again for a minute. Add the cacao powder and pulse one or two times, until well incorporated. If necessary, add more vegan milk to obtain the texture you prefer. Store in an airtight container for 2-3 days, in the refrigerator.
